Five things you should know about Transformers: Dark of the Moon:

1. This movie is really worth seeing. Director Michael Bay gives you exactly what you want, more metal vs. metal, humans vs. metal, more explosions, total city destruction, hot cars and a witty, fast-paced script.

2. It’s cool to watch the scenes and figure out where the heck in Washington, DC they claim to be. There was a highway chase scene that took place on the “DC Parkway,” according to police. I have to admit–they weren’t anywhere near DC! But that’s ok, because the chase scene was AWESOME and included the best sequence of the film. Go Bumblebee!

3. You absolutely, positively don’t have to see it in 3D. What you do have to do is sit far enough away from the screen so that you’re not lost in the mangled metal sauce during the fight scenes. Just watching each Transformer actually transform is confusing enough, if you’re paying attention to how each one folds and unfolds. (I was)

4. You absolutely, positively won’t miss Megan Fox. Newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whiteley oozed sex appeal all over the screen and has lips to rival the former fox, plus a British accent!

5. Be prepared for at least one special guest cameo that you weren’t expecting! Hint: you’ve seen two of them before in films that opened with huge numbers in 2011. Hollaaaa, City of Squallaaaaa!!

Transformers: 2 1/2 stars. Rated PG-13, 157 mins.
